Argyll: Glen Feochan and Kilninver Argyll: around Loch Melfort Argyll: from Kilmartin to Inveraray
We visited not only the Slate Islands, but the adjacent mainland as well, roughly the triangle Oban - Kilmartin - Inverarary. We also made one longer trip, to Glen Coe and Glen Etive (you know, that one day that started fine with sunshine, but from around noon we just had rain and rain).

I added some photographs to the Rannoch Moor and Glen Etive portfolios:

Argyll: Seil - the South-East Argyll: Seil - Dunmor
In April and May we stayed as an extended family, my parents and the four of us, on the Slate Islands, a group of small islands between mainland Argyll and the Isle of Mull.
Once famous for their slate industry, now they offer peace, quite and tremendous vistas. Not surprisingly we stayed most days nearby. Not surprisingly too a lot of the pictures in the portfolios are made from the same points - but the light constantly changes!

Eifel, Habscheid Eifel, windmolens Eifel overig

During the Autumn leaf we were a few days in the Eifel, quite near the place where Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg meet.
All photos shown here were shot during these three and a half days. Let no one doubt my diligence... (you decide about the success, of course).

Fyn: Faaborg Fyn: Egebjerg Fyn: Broby and Svanninge Bakker

After our stay in Scotland in Spring, we decided to do something different with our one week leaf in August: go to Legoland and have a look at Denmark while there. We spend a couple of days in the Haderlev area, Jylland and some more near Faaborg on the lovely island of Fyn.
I´ll spare you the photos of Legoland - just the usual ´family in front of the whatever´ pictures. I do show you lots of rural landscapes.

Jylland, Ribe Jylland, Hejlsminde Jylland, around Haderslev The scenery is never spectacular, as e.g. in Scotland. But it is lovely at most times and for me as a photographer a challenge because good pictures were not that obvious. Quite rare for me, I did some street photography in Ribe and Faaborg as well. I hope you enjoy!

[ For the ones who want to know: the Faaborg and the Ribe portfolio were shot with a dSLR and the others with my Rollei and digital back ]

Arisaig East Arisaig West Morar
The last days of April and the first of May we as a family stayed in a cottage near Borrodale House, a few miles from Arisaig.
A fine part of Scotland in Spring: beautiful subtle green leafs, many flowers and bright sunshine.

So I present you the pictures of a week with great weather for a family holiday, but with some challenges for photography! Especially on the isles of Eigg and Rum, which we could only visit around noon.
Nevertheless, a series I greatly enjoy looking at.

After my February 2007 visit to the Glencoe area we headed for Scotland again the last days of April and the first ones of May. We spent a couple of days in the Fort William area.
I added a lot of pictures to the Etive, Glen Coe and Lochaber portfolios.

I expect to post the other portfolios, from our week in Arisaig, soon.

Cairn Gorm
Last year I slowly adapted to the idea of having a entirely digital workflow. In October I purchased a digital back.
In a back to the future, new ways in my landscape photography I muse about digital landscape photography; in the second part I describe my first experiences in the field, during a trip to Scotland.

Rannoch Moor and Glen Etive Glen Coe Lochaber Loch Lomond
February 2007 I visited Scotland again, for the first time working with a digital back instead of slides. So, no more squares, but rectangles and numerous panoramas!
The digital set-up worked like a charm, but more on that later. For now, enjoy the light and colours of a mild Scottish Winter.

A new Dutch landscape portfolio: Sprielder and Speulder forest
A few images were added to the Along the river Lek: from Maurik to Ameide portfolio.

September 2004: a lengthy article about the basics of photographic technique. Metering the licht, exposing, colour temperature, focusing - and a couple of exemples from real life!

July 2004 we moved from Katwijk aan den Rijn to Veenendaal, in the middle of the country between Utrecht and Arnhem. Now I fully understand why moving ranks high on the list of stressful life events. Anyway, we succeeded and are now back on full speed, with even more space for photography.
From Veenendaal it will be even easier to work throughout the country as it was from Katwijk.

May the 7th 2004 I split the original rivers and polders portfolio in two, after adding a lot of recent work.

The two parts are: the Krimpenerwaard and the Lopikerwaard and from Maurik to Ameide.

May the firth 2004: the site is given a new design!

The information about wedding reportage and landscape & nature is divided into several smaller pages.
The solemn black background is changed into a stylish grey!

15 februari: 3 new landscape portfolios with December 2003 photographs

January the 28th 2004 I added an account of a winter trip to Scotland to the site.

December the 30th 2003: a novum! Some of Dirk Funhoff's pictures of Scottish Wildlife are added to this site.

This summer we happened to visit the same island: Lunga, one of the Treshnish Isles. I feel his pictures are a very good addition to the covering of Scotland's beauty on this site.

December the 3rd 2003 I added an introduction to medium format:

November the 15th 2003 a new article is added to the landscape photography series:

September the 22nd 2003 I added some new portfolios and added to many others.

Recently I bought a Rollei 6008 and some lenses to replace my Bronica EC system.
For those who are interested in the tools of photography I put my first experiences in an article: Rollei 6008, the adventures of an enthousiastic Bronica EC user.

Since November the 8 th contains a lot of information as well as photographs of Scotland and Ireland!

I added an article about the landscapes of these countries: created by man and nature.

At the bottom of the various landscape portfolios I put some personal impressions of the areas.

October the 26th parts of the wedding-portfolios are updated.

September the 17th 2002 7 new landscape portfolios were added to the site! 6 Irish portfolios and one from Wales. All there for you to enjoy!
